Rickmansworth to Amersham along the Chess Valley

Spring at last! A lovely day for a linear walk with a picnic.

We drove to Amersham, took the tube to Rickmansworth and walked back to the car.Google Tracks told us is was just over 11 miles, but that's probably slightly generous.


We were lucky enough to see an Egret (Little rather the Great White I think due to black bill) near the start of the walk. First butterflies of the year too: Comma, Peacock and Brimstone. A few cowslips, violets, primroses and celandines.

Maharaja's Well and Gallowstree Common

An unexpectedly sunny day for a lovely walk with Alison and David. Nice to be West of Henley - an area we don't often explore.

Good welcome, beer and food at The Reformation at Gallowstree Common.
