A perfect summer walk from Speen - in March

My parents are due to arrive this afternoon. As it's a beautiful day, and the cleaning that a parental visit involves had been done, we had time for a walk this morning.

Rosie concocted this route from Speen. This certainly was a lovely morning to be walking in The Chilterns but, as Rosie remarked, it seemed strange that the leafless trees made it seem like a winter landscape, which was strange when the weather felt like summer. So much like summer that the Jackson legs got an airing when I zipped off the bottoms of my hiking trousers.

We'd planned to cook lunch today but couldn't resist the idea of lunch (preferably a ploughman's) in a pub garden. So we tried the King William IV in Speen. This was very nice, but too posh to have a ploughman's, so we had to make do with a cheese, tomato and onion panini with chips! Lovely pub - excellent beer. We'll return.
